Young women and flowers, especially lotus, seem to be the eternal source of inspiration for Ha Huynh My to explore, imagine, and create. It takes not only artistic gift but also some sort of resonation of the soul to bring out the essence of femininity and beauty, in their purest form, like My does. The double impact of traditional beauty and femininity, to a great extent, invites the viewers to walk into the serenity and share the artist’s admiration for her subjects. The relationship between young women and flowers in My’s work is one of wholeness, with them complimenting each other yet proudly showing their own personality. Having less texture, My’s paintings look almost washed, with the girls usually blending into the background, only one or two accents on certain features to bring out contrast. Feeling calm, peaceful and balanced, the viewer is drawn into the moment and also into oneself.

The essence of My’s paintings is all about resonating oneself with the soul of femininity, purity and innocence brought about by the girls as the subject, in relation to each other and to the nature around them.
